Re: Son's fine/car's toast

>I'm more in love with Audi now then ever.

4 years ago I made the same decision.

I was in my '81 coupe sitting in the left turn lane at a stop light when
I was rear-ended by a by a '91 Plymouth Acclaim travling at approx 40mph.
The Acclaim was totalled when it's engine moved into and Perforated the
firewall. The Airbags blew yet the front seat passengers still suffered
injurys (Broken collarbone on the pass, and a broken ankle and cuts and
burns from the airbag on the driver) the Acclaim went to the yard on a
hook. I on the other hand DROVE my Coupe away, I did see the car comming
so I had eased up on the brakes to let the car absorbe the impact a
little better, but I still had to be on them hard enough NOT to hit the
car that was 8 feet in front of me (I used up 7 1/2 of the 8 feet!!).
The accident Broke Every bonded rubber mount in the car, blew the front
oil seal out of the motor to the point that I lost 1 quart of oil every
150 miles, Cracked the windsheild in HALF, crushed the bumper mounts and
damaged the bumper mount structure, Destroyed the exhaust system and bent
the gear linkage. I was severly bruised by the seat belt and rattled my
brain around my head and had to miss some work due to the dizzyness and
headaches, but otherwise I and the car were fine. Now my parts guy owns
this car with over 400,000 miles on it and uses's it as a daily driver.

Glad to hear that your son is doing fine.

Later!
