I think the challenge is there are too many hoops to jump through in the
US--epa, product liability. i'll bet there's a few heads shaking in auburn
hills over the stuff schaumberg audi sells, even if some of those folks have
bought the product. generally, manufacturers like to control their
distributors/channels--what they say, how they act, what they sell with the
products. under the guise of "vehicle safety" and product liability, the
car manufacturers (importers) have an easier time of this, than say, a
software manufactuer ;)
