re: breaking in an A4Q:

(1) Vary the engine speed

(2) generally keep the revs below 4,000 rpm, but a few bursts
to 5k would not be bad

(3) maintain partial throttle

(4) no, the oil is reputed to be regular 10W40, although VW claims that
their initial fill is break-in oil.  So we don't really know.

(5) According to my very trusted dealer mechanic, do not use
synthetic for the first 10-15k.  The 6 cyl requires extensive break-in,
and sythetic will slow the process.

(6) Engines are NOT broken in at the factory.  How?  The logistics
prohibit it.
