it's been a few years, but i went to kent falls dozens of times during the 70's
and 80's. yes there are some picnic tables and i'm pritsure there are grills.
i would take a hibachi or two just in case and plan to have someone show up a
bit early to stake out a table or two. the parking lot is plenty large enough
that you should be able to pick an empty corner for the herd. the place is
small enough that you won't get lost trying to find someone. there are not
a lot of amenities and it's in the middle of nowhere, so you don't have the
usual overcrowding. there are restroom facilities. an ice cream truck is
the snack bar. there is a trail to the top o' the falls - anyone not under
doctor's care should be able to make it to the top in street shoes - it's
worth the hike and it should still be running well at this time of year.
lime rock is not far to the north. you can see it from 112 but you won't get
inside unless there is a public ($) event or you are a card carrying member
of the club renting the facilities that day (no husbands, wives, kids or
friends) the covered bridge in cornwall is cool and the housatonic is
beautiful. plenty of fun roads in northern ct and southern ma (rtes 7, 8,
4, 23, 41, 44) (and don't forget eastern ny)
