Audi sightings etc
Greetings y'all,
My day has just been brightened by the sight of a fast-moving Audi RS2
Avant in retina-burning blue. I didn't have time to spot the Porsche brakes
but it was genuine (I was doing 110mph at the time, the RS2 left me for
dead). A great sight!
Also on my way to work: a beautiful dark green metallic A8 Q 4.2. The owner
was trying to kill himself by 'phoning while driving. Stupid git!
The sightings of high-end Audis are increasing in frequency here: I think
they're being imported from Germany as used cars. I've seen a couple of
beautiful Ur-Qs in the last week (extremely rare here) and some coupes.
They all had new registrations, not related to the age of the cars
(consistent with foreign imports).
The A4 Avant, meanwhile, is really taking off here. It sells more units
than the BMW 3 wagon, previously very popular here. Station wagons are all
the rage here at the moment, selling like hot cakes. Most are being used by
just one (yuppie) person at a time though.
The first tests of the A3 are appearing in magazines now. It mostly gets a
very good reception, being considered as classy, and very different from
the VW Golf.
They've even published prices: the 1.6 version (110 bhp) would be about
$26k here (while a 1.6 A4 costs about $31k) You guys are really lucky with
those low car prices in the US- I envy you something rotten! I kinda like
the colours the A3 comes in, especially the orangy-gold metallic (sounds a
bit dodgy, but looks great in reality). It makes the cars really stand out.
Wish I could afford one...
Bye, Tom.
