brakes & wheels: coupe < 5kt
-- [ From: human * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] --
Here's my big project for the year for comment/advice/derisive laughter:
I have an '82 Coupe - quite clean, with 208k miles it has almost no rust and
still runs very well. I recently acquired an early 80's 5000 turbo for
parts and this project. You remember they look like the old style 5000 but
they have cool 15" 12 spoke gold alloy wheels and 4 wheel disc brakes. Well
I want to take the wheels, the brakes, and whatever else is necessary off
the 5k and put them on my Coupe. Presto! I can run 205-50-15's, I'll have
10.5" discs in front and 9's in the rear and it will be COOL!
So, who knows -
Are the axle splines the same, will I need to make custom half shafts? Are
the springs the same diameter? Should I get something made by an expert?
What kind of problem might there be in the rear?
The brake systems on the two cars appear the same (servo, reservoir, etc.)
(Next year I'll put the T engine in my -2WD- coupe. silly, n'est-ce pas?)
Thanks for any and all guidance, sympathy and spiritual advice.
