Re: Information and Apology
Eric,
I am certainly not given authority to speak for everyone, so are very much
at liberty to take what I have to say with a liberal dose of salt.
In the past couple of years the quattro list has received several bulk
advertising announcements similar to yours. As a result, we have gotten
pretty sensitive to them and have, perhaps, developed hair triggers. The
group has, more or less by consensus, arrived at the decision that we don't
want advertising in any form on the list.
With your Quattro, you are certainly "qualified" for membership in this
group (not that one must qualify in any way except for being interested). A
number of the members of this group are in business providing a variety of
items which are of interest to some of the members of this group. Some have
been ridden pretty hard for what some perceive as advertising (and others
find relatively innocuous, eh, Peter?) We, as a group, pretty well accept
the business interests of our members. (Some might offer some dispute to
that statement. :-) ) I suppose that this doesn't totally square with not
wanting advertising in any form as stated above, but these interests have
become known from a rather long series of pleas for help from list members
and helpful responses to those pleas from a number of members along with
those with business interests. Those replies have almost always been
informative and helpful and have not been perceived as advertising and, I'm
sure have not really been intended as advertising even though we have become
aware that a product is available through them.
May I suggest that your products may well be of interest to many of the
group, myself included, but that it might be better received if you were an
active participant of the list and then were it done much more circumspectly.
Something on the order of "Hey, guys, I just got some nice Audi related
lithographs (especially if it were in response to someone's mentioning or
asking about something like Audi Calendars). If you are interested get back
to me for details." might be better received. Even then, some might be
upset over "commercialization of the list". Others would not.
I think I speak for just about everyone when I say that, like anyone else,
Eric, you are welcome to participate in the quattro list. Your advice and
questions and just plain BS (like a lot of my posts) will be welcome.
Either that or we can delete them. :-)
Apology, if necessary, accepted (at least on my part).
BTW, Eric, FYI, there are quite a few members of this list who are rather
disillusioned with QCUSA.
If you stick around after your rough welcome, welcome aboard. :-)
