Audi wagons and mountain bikes

I have a question about the Audi wagons.  I've been thinking that my next car
should be a wagon and I was wondering whether a mountain bike, with its front
wheel removed (and perhaps the seat post dropped down) will fit standing up
in a wagon.  (I would fashion some sort of quick release to hold down the
forks)  That is something that has me favoring a wagon over a sedan.

Anyone had any experience with this?
