Wagons and Bikes, Trucks and Di[ah, got carried away]

A mountain bike [standing upright, seat post dropped] will fit in
the back of my 89 200 tqw, if you take front rim off [bike], but the 5th
door will not close [assuming back seat is up]. Frankly, because of the
rake of the back glass, the ovlov kinda has us beat here. But, drop part
of the split back seat and you can lay the whole thing down--with tons of
room for gear. Might I suggest a Thule or Yakima rack here? BTW, if you
must have the bike standing up in back, go to local bike shop and buy
[forget the name here] a little device that is made, really, for holding
front fork when hauling w/o rack in truck, van, etc. Mount this
doohickey on board going the width of the back of the car--and you are ready.

While on the subject of MTB's and Quattro's--drove the car deep
into the rough stuff to get to some trails we were riding [yeah, I know,
but hey, why ride when you can drive, right?]--one of the boys with me
*parked* his turbo 850 and rode w/ me. Claimed he didn't want to
"scratch" it. Right.
