It's possible that the dual voice coil speaker on the driver's door is part
of the cellular phone prep package that is standard on the A4 (and all
currenrt Audis).  The Audi phone will automatically mute the radio when a
call is placed or answered.  If you use it in "hands free" mode, it plays
over a speaker which I believe is the auxilliary voice coil in the driver's
side door speaker.  The placement is designed to minimise the possibility of
a feedback loop from the "A" pillar mounted microphone.
