Been there, done that... I have replaced every Fuba antenna on all my 
cars. The amplifier is located in the base of the antenna. You have one 
shot at not replacing it. The nut that holds the antenna to the roof is 
also the ground for the amp. Once in a great while the connection gets 
fouled. Check for ground at the base of the antenna, if you got it, then 
you need a new Fuba. Go aftermarket, the dealers price will cause your 
jaw to hit the floor (as usual).

Fortunatly, in late 93 Fuba changed the design of the antenna, and it's 
supposedly improved.
