No, they are intentional.  The compressor and temperature '-' buttons
have "cold" implications and red just doesn't seem right...

You just have to experiment.  The A4's seating configuration and steering
wheel are all very adjustble, which means that they can be adjusted
wrong :-).  It took me a while to arrive at a position that I felt
comfortable in.
