My A4Q behaves exactly like yours and I think it's great.
I am amazed at how stable the coolant temperature is on
this car.  I guess the engine-driven fan in addition to
the electric fan helps keep it that way.  On both my 4000
and 5000 Turbo, the coolant temperature would vary a bit
depending on driving condition (lower 1/3 on the gauge on
cool days cruising on the highway, and upper 1/3 on hot days
stop+go in traffic).
