I gotsta agree wif you about not hitting 130+ speeds for any sustained time.
If that was all I was concerned about I wouldn't use anything above H-rated
tires, either.

However...  V-rated tires have a stiffer sidewall than H-rated ones.  This
translates into stiffer, i.e., more controlled handling in the corners.  Now
maybe out in the flat wide opens spaces of Texas, 'n Utah, 'n Montana that
isn't quite as important as it is on the narrow winding roads I drive at
exhilarating speeds nearly everyday.  

For me, the improved handling makes the greater expense of V-rated tires an
excellent investment.

BTW, I fairly regularly hit triple digits, just not for very long.  :-)
