audi sales up again

  AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Audi of America, Inc.
reported U.S. sales of 2,177 for the month of July 1996, representing a
69.2 percent increase over the same month last year when sales were
1,287.
          This represents the German luxury carmaker's best July results in
the U.S. in seven years.  Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-
previous-year sales increase for 19 of the last 20 months.
          So far in 1996, Audi has sold 14,879 new cars, representing a
49.1 percent increase over the same period last year when the total was
9,980.
          Audi continues to be the fastest-growing luxury passenger car
franchise in the U.S.
