bleeding clutch system
Folks,
I am trying to get the clutch system in ur 83 ur-quattro bled, not
too much luck so far. I am going for the pressure bleed method.
I attached the air from the compressor to the special brake reservior
cap and am applying approx 10 psi. I open the slave cylinder bleed
valve and gobs of air is coming out with a bit of fluid, no solid stream
like when bleeding the brakes. I have added almost 0.5 cans of brake
fluid, but still air is in there. One thing I have noticed is the lack of fluid
around the outlet for the hose which goes to the clutch master cylinder.
There seems to be an air gap there.Should I lower the front of the
car? will fluid flow into this section then?
What am I doing wrong? Also should the little cup be in the fluid
reservior when bleeding, or removed? I checked the Bentley and
all it says is to pressure bleed the system. No details.
BTW, the slave and feed hose have been disconnected for the better
part of the last year while undergoing the engine transplant.
Look forward to the tips. Please send them to the home address, as
I want this new engine running this weekend.
Thanks.
