Regarding 17s
Good riding 17s?
I to have spent time in the new M3. No car should feel that good with what, 40?
series tires.
Here in Ct in the SW corner the roads are crap. Nothing but patches over
patches followed by frost heaves. The state hasn't got a clue how to pave. I91
around Hartford has been paved to washboard perfection.
But the M3 amazed me. Want an even better car on 17s? The C36 Mercedes. I
think the best sedan you can buy. Go ahead flame me. I love mt 5ktq. Turbos
are cool but 280lbft of NA torque with mercedes smoothness is worth stealing
for. Anyway just amazing ride, composure and grip.
But I think in both cases you will be coddled while you bend wheels. Ride is
one thing, the roads are another. so while you bend the hell out of your rims
you'll be damned comfortable while you do it.
Also both those cars were designed and tweeked from the start to have 17s. The
spring/damper/roll bars and bushing all had that in mind.
If we could get the digressive valving in the Bilsteins as they have then maybe
we could run the 17s.
I'm getting calls from people now since the Merkurs appeared in EC. They all
want 17s now. It is really hard to tell someone that they don't want what looks
soooooo good.
