Au contraire, my brudder lived in MT for some years (still has a
house in Butte which he couldn't sell after the mine closed - so he
rents it, and has paid for it...) and I surely admire their approach
to speed limits. Howsomever, I have heard that the state gendarmerie
have taken to gently dissuading those who are exercising their autos
above the century mark from continuing to do so - with warnings to
hold it down to around 80. Based on past performance, though, I'd say
a driver whose car was firmly under control and had a positive
attitude had a pretty good chance of getting a warning on a first
"business encounter" with such a minion of "la ley".

I must be in a weird mood. Haven't muddled French, Spanish and
middle-murrican dialect in a single post for some time....!
