fuel economy & gauges
-- [ From: human * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] --
lets call a spade a spade! I think it's hilarious how a thread takes on a
life that has nothing to do with it's original re:subject...
my 82 coupe na l5 gets ~26 mpg summer, 21 mpg winter (???) That 26 looks to
be dropping to 25 now that I adjusted my throttle cable! "free power"
indeed.
the 16 gallon tank will give me 400 miles. The fuel gauge is marked in
"quarters", the bottom section in red is about equal to them... so I get 80
miles to the fifth
my 83 5kt used to get endless kilometers (euro dash? grey market car) on the
first 1/4 tank and then - whoosh, the needle would dive into the red.
Actually the 3/4 full mark seemed to be about 1/2 a tank. (18 gallons/500
km typ. = ~17 mpg. I used to do the the multiplication by .621 while
accelerating and the division by gallons at top speed)
so that '88 80 getting what, 350-400 miles to a tank seems right.
