Yesterday I helped fix my friends door on his '88 80Q.  The wire from the
inside latch to the lock broke.  It would've only taken 15 minutes, but we
dropped a clip 3 times and it took 15 min. each time to look for it.  You
need to take off the door panel first to find out what is going on.
