i am aware that this is the reason that the 328i has an iron block instead
of an aluminium block. the iron block was specially made for the US and
its sulphurious fuel.
however, i have never come across any other reason for the M3 having
a different engine except for the cost.
are you sure you didn't mix up the 328i Al block engine with the euro
M3 engine?
