If you can get to the last red mark then your gauge is broke.
Mine will only got to 7,500RPM when I try to push it with my finger
it will not go any further (I did this when I was repairing the odometer)
If you push it to 6,200 then your engine is running good I always pushed
mine to 6,000 and it had 190,000miles and it didn't smoke or consume oil.
Also passed emissions with an empty cat.. but getting back to the point of
revving it, push it to 6,000 and you'll be fine (I do it daily)
