   Try a product sold at Honda Motorcycle dealers called "Hondabrite" 
It is strong enough to take off the brake dust without scrubbing, but not too
harsh to be used on the paint of a motorcycle.  I use it weekly and it has
never harmed my bike or my clearcaoted BBS's.   It also can be used on the
body,  I use it on the rocker panels and the rear valance where the real road
grime can build up.   

Good luck trying all of these products, but at least give the Honda stuff a
fair chance, I know you will like it.  

p.s.  It is made exclusively for Honda by the makers of S-100.
