Internal antennas...

Linus Toy is in Phoenix on business (obviously, since no one would come here
during the month of August for any other reason!) and we had dinner together
last night. I found him to be a genuinely nice guy (he even said a few nice
things about my car, which wasn't easy under the circumstances -- suffice it
to say the Audi Gods worked overtime last week!) and very knowledgable about
Audis to boot...

While driving to the restaurant, he couldn't help but notice the gaping hole
where the radio is supposed to be but isn't ... I explained to him that I've
been trying to figure out the best way to adapt my aftermarket radio to work
properly with Audi's dual-antenna setup and that everything points to adding
an external antenna, which I'm very reluctant to do since I like how the car
looks without it.

He suggested mounting one of the small Fuba VW 16v-type antennas on the rear
deck instead ... has anyone ever tried this? I don't think it will work any
better than when mounted externally but if the degradation isn't too bad, it
might work a LOT better than using either of the OEM window-mounted antennas
alone. Any comments/speculation about successful this might be?
