85 4000q speedometer

I searched the archives and did not find anything on this so 
maybe some of you can help me.  The mechanism that turns my 
odometer gradually works to the left and causes the odometer to 
quit working.  I have tried to fix it a few times and it usually 
works for about 10 miles until it slips out again.

Questions?
	Would replacing the suspect mechanisms help?
	
	Has anyone else had this problem? And know what to do?
