Wax and durability

Recent posters waxed eloquent about some
of these fancy waxes holding up and long as 2 months.

Well, you better switch to something cheaper!
I use McGuires "blue" (hard wax, no cleaner).

It generally sheds sater and maintains a decent shine
for 4-6 months.  I basically wax 2-3 times/yr.

Now I'm easy on it.  I wash frequently (1-2 weeks),
and use only a car wash - intended not to remove wax.
I also do NOT dray the car with towels - that removes it
too.  Just wash before you go somewhere, and let the
wind do the work.  Of course, my car doesn't look as
spot free as others, but quite good.  And I was to
protect it.
