Bad wiper motor, part 2

Umm, disregard that snap judgement thing.  On attempted reassembly I noticed a
few things:

The motor doesn't "change directions".  The center shaft/axle in the gearing had
come popped up and blocked the rotation of the motor.  The motor WAS misaligned
though. 

 As to cause of the failure: chicken or egg.  Did the misaligned motor cause the
shaft to move, or did the shaft moving block the motor and knock it off its
damper/ out of alignment.  It doesn't really matter because it's not going back
into the car.
