All '90 90q20vs hesitate?

So I was down at our local ealer, and they had a car almost exactly like
ours -- a '90 90q20v in black, with about 70K miles (what we bought ours
at), same leather interior, but lacking wood above the glove compartment.
Anyway, we took it out on a test drive -- thinking it may be the easiest
way of getting rid of the hesitation in our car (between 3K and 4K RPM
we loose a fair bit of power, then it comes back).

The clutch felt like it had been replaced, it engaged a bit earlier than
ours does, but it also chattered in a couple of starts. The lights all
worked except for the rear passengers side entry light. The rear diff
lock didn't work either. The thing we were really interested in, the
hesitation was there, but not as noticably as ours. THere were definately
hickups in the acceleration though, right around 3700RPM. Considering
that ours has gotten much worse over the last year and 20K miles, I suspect
this other car may end up the same.

The build date on the car we drove wsa a couple of months later than ours,
01/90 versus 10/89.

<shrug> I guess we'll have to order that yellow '97 A4. :-) More on
that in a different message.

Enjoy,
Sean
