Summary: Fuel Pump
The concensus seems to be that they are noisy. <sigh> I remember a
friend's Tempo did that several times. The pump replacement was
quite a task too. When it got as loud as the one in my 90q20v,
it was time to replace it because it couldn't make it up those high
mountain passes.
