ipd
I was looking, okay drooling, at the latest issue of European Car and
read the article about the two ovloVs. It said that they had modified
the ECUs (Motronics) to version 4.2(3)? It said that ipd (Portland,
Oregon) had sent these units to Sweden and that the firmware included
OBDII. It also said that the new firmware _reduced_ emissions and
_increased_ horsepower.
These cars were 850s. Turbocharged, 5 cylinder models. Claimed a sub
6 second time for the sedan after the mods (0 - 60 mph). I'd be
awfully skeptical of this.
I've heard rumblings that the ovloV I5 really isn't ovloVs at all,
but an adaptation of Audi/VW design. If so, can/does ipd offer
performance upgrades for Audis? If they do/can, it makes one wonder
why (if ovloV) can modify the turbo motor to meet/exceed OBDII +
emissions, why Audi didn't.
what's the skinny here?
I also read in the article on the F50 (whadda car!!!) that the ECU
(again Motronic) controls a solenoid valve to add/delete exhaust
tract. kinda like a computer controlled version of the 50's lake
pipes. =8)
