This isn't intended as a flame but if you can afford a 993, why didn't you
just bite-the-bullet and replace all FOUR tires?  I don't think you should
attempt to judge a tire's ultimate potential based on how it performs when
used as part of a mis-matched set ... there are too many variables at work
here and it's much too easy to find yourself being mislead.
