Re: Wheels/tires revisited
"Unknown" BFG are Comp T/A ZR, unidirectional rotation, in a
255/40ZR17 size. I have had my experience confirmed by a number
of 911 owners on a Porsche mail list; the BFGs cannot match the
Dunlop D40, Continental, Yoko, and Pirelli ZR tires in handling/
performance. Tread life is supposed to be great, however.
As far as not going to BFGs all around, who would toss $400-500
out the window? Naturally, I wish I knew then what I know now.
Take care!

This isn't intended as a flame but if you can afford a 993, why didn't you
just bite-the-bullet and replace all FOUR tires? I don't think you should
attempt to judge a tire's ultimate potential based on how it performs when
used as part of a mis-matched set ... there are too many variables at work
here and it's much too easy to find yourself being mislead.
