Re: Audi Coupe Quattro Sport (fwd)

phil

i think the numbers you've quoted for the sport quattro are incorrect. i had a recent look at my "audi sport quattro" book by jurgen lewandowski, and he has a full history of the sport quattro build in the back. from memory 181 were built for the public, with 20 for the competition department. all the 181 were sold although audi had some trouble moving the last 20 or so. most of the competition units were destroyed (unbelievable but true) including, as i understand it, walter rohl's san remo '85 winning car (the only wrc victory for the s1).

some time during 1988 another 5 sport quatrro's were produced from parts and sold to the public.

i stand to be corrected, but that was in the lewandowski book.

prices for the sport quattro seem to be holding up well, going by the advertisements you see occasionally in autosport and other like mags.

i'd be very interested in your comments phil about the condition of the quattro sports you see, and the type of owners you meet, as well as the sort of miles that the cars have done. i'd like to understand this market as well as i can...

cheers,
