Strange Noises? Help!

Some form of frequency-dependent vibration that _doesn't_ show up as tyre 
judder?

This is a wild guess - are the brake caliper carrier retaining bolts worn?

These are basically secured rods on which the carrier floats to accomodate 
caliper tolerances when braking - there are two on each caliper.  Usually wear 
shows up as a mild "clank" when hitting a pothole.
