Hard To Shift Gears on 1989 200 Quattro Once At Normal Engine Temperature
I own a 1989 200 Quattro and have recently started to experience difficulty
shifting gears once the engine reaches normal operating temperature. When the
engine is cold shifting feels as if the car is new.
There is no clutch slipage at all whether cold or hot.
Any ideas as to what the problem is? Anyone had any experiences such as this and
what corrected the problem. ...Went to a garage who claims to be a European car
expert and he said that I have to replace the whole clutch (disk, pressure plate
and bearing) at a cost of $450 (for rebuild parts) + 8 hours of labour.
I almost had a heart attack and decided to go to another Audi expert. This one
pressed the clutch pedal (no engine running) and diagnosed it as "a clutch
master cylinder problem". He said that quattros rarely have clutch problems and
it is usually the master cylinder. He thinks he can get for $190 and will
replace for a charge of 2 hours labour.
Help!. Money is tight these days and love my quattro.
Thanks
