Good point. I'd probably still pursue it just for the general
unhelpfulness of the dealership...

Just a random thought here, but I would suspect that AoA would not be
allowed
to fit, or recommend the fitting of, the modified throttle body unless
they
had performed the necessary emissions certification work to get it
homologated. My guess is that they would take a distinct hands-off
attitude.
Without homologation, a manufacturer would be in deep doodoo selling
such
parts for street applications. Maybe you want to buy it "for off-road
purposes only," the usual subterfuge for non-conforming parts.
