This trick was also practiced by the East Germans on West German or Berlin 
vehicles passing through the old corridors between, e.g., Helmstedt and 
Postdam.  Your transit documents were timestamped - with the mandatory East 
German limits of 100kph they knew _exactly_ how long it should take.

Arrive at the other end too soon - DM400 fine.  In West German currency, 
naturally.

Wonderful thing, communism.  Won't even accept its own money.
