I think you misunderstood my messages. I was expressing the same
incredulity that you express. I currently ride behind 2 x 170/100 watt
H4 mains and 2 x 100 watt H1 auxiliaries - 540 watts total vs. the
nominal 2 x 65/55 and 2 x 55 total of 240 watts. Plus the Euro
reflectors are better.
It's not a free ride. High-power bulbs don't last anything like as long
as stock bulbs, and very few outlets sell them. I have to order the
170/100 H4s in boxes of ten from Ring - I can get Elta 100 watt H1s by
special order from a local dealer.
If anyone in the UK is interested, I carry spare bulbs in the car at
Area E and Area K meetings. 170/100 H4s are GBP8 plus carriage, 100 H1s
are GBP6. UK quattro Club Members seem to like leaving evening meetings
_after_ me.
It's a different world at night with reasonable illumination. You can
see things like wildlife, courting couples, passing aircraft, the road,
etc.
