Engine Block Heater

After a summer of PM and general repair of the 200 TQ, it dawned on me
that winter is just around the corner. Thinking back on last winter,
it would sure be nice if I had a freeze plug (misnomer) heater for
those mornings when it is -35F. As far as I can tell, no one makes
a freeze plug heater for the 1990 200 TQ. Apparently the turbo is
in the way, although I haven't looked to see if any of the freeze plugs are in
the open.

In testimony to the Audi, it sits outside all winter
and has started every time. I just hate to think of how long it takes to warm
up and get the oil flowing. The question I have is has anyone
put a heater on a 200 TQ and if so what type and how? A second
non-Audi question (partially Audi related) is has anyone put a heater
on a 1996 VW Passat VR6? All the catalogs say "See Dealer". The
dealer wants >$100 for a $20-30 heater.

Thanks for any suggestions.
