Re: 5kCSQ Overboost problem
Only one thing - the port on the wastegate won't hold pressure or vacuum...
perhaps I have a problem with the wastegate.
An empirical observation from my UrQ. Try as I might, I can build
neither significant pressure nor vacuum on the manifold-side of my UrQ's
How did you seal the turbo and you might have one or more exhaust valves open.....
I connected directly to the big momma air port on the bottom of the
waste gate. Would not hold (build up) any significant pressure, as fast
as I could pump that stupid little hand pump. Connecting to the much
smaller top (atmo) ref port, it held pressure/vacuum just fine.
This tells me there is non-negligible flow from the bottom of the waste-
gate (manifold air pressure side) out the exhaust somehow.
I suspect this is not a bug, since the wastegate works just fine, and
since Audi in their infinite wisdom uses a HUGE air feed to the bottom
of the waste gate, as opposed to a relatively tiny feed to the atmo-
spere reference side, as if they expected some air flow to occur.
(FWIW, I actually stumbled across this as I initially tried to get my
BoostGraphic boost control hooked up according to the manual -- I simply
could not get enough flow through its control valve to actuate the
wastegate in a timely fashion (gross overboost/ECU shutdown). Yet, if
I "turn it upside down" (logically speaking), it easily flows enough to
back-bias the atmosphere port and allow me to build up boost that way.)
