I meant remove it entirely... many cars run reasonably well with this
switch not working electrically.  You'll lose some boost at WOT and the
idle may be rougher.  My car idles fine with it disconnected.

Have you checked that the throttle closes completely with the switch removed?
Is the idle adjustment screw still there?  Have you cleaned out the idle
stabilizer solenoid (several times with carb cleaner)?
