To my knowledge, the Tresers sold new in the US had just the appearance and
suspension packages; the ones sold in Europe also had some additional motor
work. Odds are most of the ones you will encounter were made-in-the-US but
don't forget that '85-'86 was the height of the grey market and it's always
possible that someone imported a full-boat Treser from Europe and got their
one-time emission exemption for it. (BTW, those fender flares were made by
stretching and shrinking the OEM sheetmetal ... they're NOT add-ons!)
A few years ago, Scottsdale Porsche-Audi -- one of the two US importers for
these cars/parts -- was closing out the remaining goodies they had on hand.
I was tempted to buy one of the steering wheels but all they had was medium
brown and I didn't think it would match my interior very well. I also seem
to recall they had a set of Treser wheels but since they required TRX tires
and my thoughts on Michelin are well known, I passed on them. I DO know of
a body shop that has one of the three-piece rear spoilers sitting on one of
their shelves so if anyone's interested, let me know. Every so often, cars
with Treser body parts show up at the local salvage yards so if anyone's in
need of replacement parts, let me know that too and I'll keep an eye out...
Lastly, just in case anyone thinks I actually LIKE these cars, let me point
out that I think they're butt-ugly and would rather walk than drive one ...
that said, the Treser 4kq doesn't look too awful bad from some angles but I
still don't think I'd want to own one.
