Re: quattro-digest V3 #1010
This is a second opinion on a different car.
I have run a '84 Porsche Carrera Turbo-Look at several of the Porsche
Club of America track events, and have used both Pagid Yellows and
Cool Carbons. In my mind, the Cool carbons are superior, largely due
to not transferring as much heat to the brake fluid, and therefore keeping
vapor bubbles from forming in the fluid. With the Cool Carbons, I could
run an entire weekend and have a good, rock-hard brake pedal for the entire
weekend. Switching to the Pagids resulted in the pedal getting spongy
after about a 20 minute session; letting the car cool down between sessions
resulted in the pedal being firm again. This occurred at both Watkins Glen
and Mid-Ohio; switching back to the Cool Carbons resulted in a firm pedal
again. Only problem is that they squeal, but this is easily cured with a
spray
of anti-squeal compound onto the backing plates.
price approx. $70 - $140, depending on application.

I have been using the Pagid Yellow (street/race) pads
on the 83 urQ, and oh boy do I love them!
They have now lasted for several thousand street miles,
as well as 2 days at Watkins Glen, 2 days at Lime Rock, and 1 day at NHIS,
and they look as thick as new. They really, really stop too!
I'd say get the Pagids.
