RE: Considering 90 20v Q
quattro20v, vintage 1990:
-Timing belt, particularly if over 60k miles (this is an interference
(valves-pistons) engine!!)
-A/C works.
-Clutch pedal returns to rest position without any assistance from your
toe (toe assistance required with bad master or slave clutch cylinder).
-Holes in exhaust from broken rubber hangers allowing exhaust to rub on
rear halfshaft.
-Outside air temp sensors (there are two on my Coupe quattro, press
Outside Air Temp button on A/C control, should be about right, if not
can cause problems with A/C)
Normal Audi stuff:
-Steering rack leaks
-Switches don't/switched stuff won't (windows, sunroof, mirrors, seat
heaters...)
-Emergency brake stiff or frozen
-Alignment / tires
-Suspension: a-arm bushings, shock bearings, subframe bushings,
engine/transmission mounts
-Vacuum leaks (pull dipstick on running engine, no change in RPMs=leak)
Iff'n you haven't driven one of the 20v atmo cars before, they kind of
like to rev over 3500RPM, you'll find a noticeable bump in power up
there.
HTH.
