Resale prices of 200's vs 80/90

Based on the feedback you all gave me, I was able to convince my wife
to go with an 80/90 series instead of the Milano, Peugeot 405, Saab
9000 or Merkur Scorpio. I have found some interesting resale data.
Ok, this information reflects my market, and granted miles does make a
difference, but either the 200q's depreciate a lot because most of the
1989/90 for sale have over 100k miles, or the 80/90 series (most but
not all were under 100k miles) have done a good job of keeping their
value. Or put another way, 200q's are a steal, but didn't we know that
already!

Basically in the North Carolina (Raleigh/Charlotte/Greensboro) area I
have seen 1988/89 80/90 (all non q's) from $4.2K ('88 80) to $7K
('90 80) through both individuals and dealers. The 90 models for those
same years are between those numbers and up to someone asking $8K for
an '89 90. Meanwhile, I have actually purchased an 89 200q for $7000,
plus seen three to four ads for 89/90 200q sedans between $6000-$8000.

I found this so curious, I pulled up http//:www.atlantaclassifieds.com
(the ATL Journal/Constitution classifieds) and found the same
situation. FWIW.
