Laser Radar Red Shift
For all of you planning on purchasing laser radar interferometers, if
you are approaching the radar, (or you are the radar being approached)
the frequency shift (relative to standing still) is to higher
frequencies. This is usually called a *blue* shift.
P.S. Most laser diodes are insufficiently coherent and frequency
stable to be used for interferometry. Timing of pulse round trip time
differences is much easier.
