I have also heard from a local shop that ZF rebuilt pumps have a high failure
rate and warranty service from then can be a PITA.  Strange to think that the
manufacturer can't fix 'em right.  Oh well, but then they did produce these
failure-prone things to begin with...

I'm not sure that PAP rebuilds their own pumps, as I know of company that
rebuilds them for a number of wholesalers.  I'll post the name of the place
(don't have it here) and  check if they sell to the public.  I think their
rebuild price is ~$150 w/ $50 core charge last I heard.  They also rebuild
racks (not sure of price) and have a good reputation.  I bought one for my
dad's 5k about a year ago and was impressed.  They even included new mounting
bolts and copper washers.

hmm... maybe we can get a quattro list volume discount.
