Re: 20v spark plug replacement

On my 20V Coupe, I use a craftsman 5/8" spark plug socket.
The more normal 13/16" won't fit.

By the way, depending on the make of spark plug you buy, the
manufacturer's cros-conversion manual might list a 13/16" hex plug
for this vehicle (they did for my Coupe), but it won't fit in thee spark
plug well. Check before purchase.

 Subject: 20v spark plug replacement

I was home sick yesterday, so I decided to take a peek at the plugs
in the '91 200q to see if they were the cause of the misfire at high
boost (which I am still chasing). I took out my brand new Sears
locking extensions (so as not to loose the spark plug socket) and
*whoa*, the plug socket doesn't fit in the hole in the head. Hmmm...I
remembered that I had a smaller spark plug socket which was used on
some newer GM plugs, so I put it in place and *whoa*, it doesn't fit
down the hole either (but it is close).

So...what spark plug socket do I use for looking at these plugs? Is
it an Audi-only part? Am I left with using the handle end of the lug
nut wrench (which is outfitted for plug removal)?

 Inquiring minds want to know.
