Control arm bushings

I know there has been considerable discussion on Control arm bushings in
the past; however I can't remember if there was ever a definitive answer to
which to use when. 

I ask because a friend of mine with an '86 coupe replaced his about a year
ago and now finds it is time to do the chore again. Claims he purchased
"good German bushings".  I know he doesn't want performance bushings poly
or solid for that matter. he just wants a quality factory replacement that
will last. I seem to remember a discussion about some aftermarket units
that are to be avoided. Can any one bring me up to date on this?
