I have a 87 CGT with (I think) same rear calipers and had the same
problem about two years ago. Mine was leaking from the top back of the
caliper, right below the e-brake spring mechanism. I bought the
appropriate rebuild kit..there was nothing in it to rebuild that
part of the caliper. The e-brake parts are located under the
caliper piston under a pressed in, sheet metal retainer. I tried
getting into it with a couple of homemade tools....never got the
damn thing apart. What I did manage to do was to scratch the
barrel of the caliper.
..
I took a trip to my local audi junker(Campbell/Nelson, Edmonds WA)
and found a new-looking one for about $80 (after having to convince
the parts guy....this car actually did come stock with rear
disks!!!...came off a 85 5KCSQ). Oh...I also asked two local brake
shops if they'd do a rebuild to seal the leak...they said they
wouldn't touch the'thing' and to go to te dealer. I think the
dealer quoted me $400 something, only available new (dont remember
exactly, was too busy hyperventalating)..
..
IMHO....a rebuilt unit is the way to go...bolt it on and go...
..
Good Luck..
